Frank Ocean cancels Sasquatch! festival gig, maybe more
Consequence Of Sound reports that Frank Ocean has canceled at least one of his upcoming festival performances this summer, with more in doubt. Ocean—who released his second studio album, Blonde, last year, and who’s been steadily releasing a flow of new music lately through hits Beats One radio show—won’t be attending this year’s Sasquatch! Festival in Washington, later this month. Instead, LCD Soundsystem will fill the fest’s Friday headlining slot.
Meanwhile, sources suggest that at least a few of Ocean’s other summer commitments—including Hangout Festival, which kicks off in two weeks in Alabama—are also unlikely to occur. The stated reason for the cancellations is “production delays beyond [Ocean’s] control.” The rapper and R&B singer—who broke into the musical scene with 2012’s Grammy-winning Channel Orange—hasn’t taken the stage for a live performance in more than three years.
