Freeform picks up scary mermaid show and Life-Size sequel

Freeform already shared the first trailer for its Cloak And Dagger series today, but that’s not all the hip, teen-friendly network is up to. In a press release, Freeform also announced some other developments that should be of particular interest to its hip, teen-friendly audience. For starters, it has given a 10-episode series order to Siren, a Vampire Diaries-style drama that swaps out the undead bloodsuckers for a vengeful mermaid on a mission to murder the surface people who killed her mermaid family. Naturally, the girl meets a surface boy who treats her well, but according to a trailer that Freeform also released, Siren looks like it’s going to emphasize brutal mer-murders over any star-crossed romance.

Freeform has also ordered Life-Size 2, a sequel to the 2000 TV movie where Tyra Banks played a doll that came to life and hung out with Lindsay Lohan. Banks has been trying to get a sequel off the ground since at least 2015, and she teased on Twitter that she’ll be reprising her role as the life-size doll in the sequel. It’s unclear if Lohan will be involved at all, but Life-Size 2 will reportedly focus on a new kid. It’ll premiere in December of 2018.
