Freeform’s Cloak And Dagger casts its Cloak and Dagger
Last April, we reported that Freeform had given a straight-to-series order to Cloak And Dagger, a live-action drama series based on the Marvel characters of the same names. Billed as a “superhero love story,” Cloak And Dagger is about two troubled young people, Tandy Bowen (a.k.a. Dagger) and Tyrone Johnson (a.k.a. Cloak), who come from very different backgrounds and fall in love based on their relatively complimentary superpowers and aesthetics. (He can teleport himself and others by wrapping them up in his shadowy cape, and she can shoot “light daggers.”)
Now, Deadline is reporting that Freeform has cast the show’s two lead roles, with Olivia Holt playing Dagger and The Night Of’s Aubrey Joseph playing Cloak. In a statement, executive producer and showrunner Joe Pokaski said that “these characters leapt off the page” when Holt and Joseph read for them, and he’s “excited to see what these talented young actors bring to the Marvel Universe.”
This show is coming from Marvel Studios, but at this point a crossover with Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., the Netflix shows, or the Avengers movies seems pretty unlikely.
