Friars Club to roast Quentin Tarantino
Joining an illustrious company of entertainers that includes Milton Berle, Richard Pryor, and Donald Trump, Quentin Tarantino will be the subject of this year’s Friars Club roast on Oct. 1. Unfortunately, since 2002 the original Friars Club roasts have been usurped by the Comedy Central Roast Of… series, so there’s no word yet on whether Tarantino’s time in the hot seat will ever make it to broadcast. (But you can probably expect to read all about it the next day.) Of this year’s honoree, Friars Club Dean Freddie Roman said, “Having seen Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill, I can only pray that he understands that we only roast the ones we love at the Friars,” in humorous reference, we guess, to the fact that Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill feature people killing other people. Oh the jibes and japes!
