Friday Night Lights’ Adrianne Palicki joins Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Some actors are so determined to play a superhero that they’ll strap on multiple capes before deciding which one fits the best. Chris Evans was The Human Torch in those crummy Fantastic Four movies before he became Captain America, and Ben Affleck will soon be stepping into Batman’s scowl after the similarly crummy Daredevil movie. This phenomenon isn’t exclusive to movies, either, as Friday Night Lights’ Adrianne Palicki is now proving.

Back in 2011, Palicki was set to star in David E. Kelley’s Wonder Woman TV series as the Amazonian princess herself, but the show never became anything but an apparently terrible pilot. That didn’t stop her from pursuing her superheroic dream, though, and—after jumping ship from DC to Marvel—she’s ready to take another stab at putting on tights and fighting crime. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Palicki has joined ABC’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Bobbi “Mockingbird” Morse. She’s only set to appear in one episode for now, but Marvel is at least officially inducting another well-liked comic book character—and a Friday Night Lights alum—into its Cinematic Universe.

Palicki joins a few other big-name guest stars who will be appearing on S.H.I.E.L.D. this season, including Lucy Lawless and Kyle MacLachlan. We still don’t know if the show will find a way to tie into Marvel’s surprisingly successful Guardians Of The Galaxy, but a talking tree would be a good replacement for Brett Dalton’s Agent Ward, who was imprisoned at the end of the first season for secretly being a bad guy. Actually, a normal tree would also be an improvement.
