Friend, you’ve earned this montage of every death in John Wick: Chapter 2
John Wick: Chapter 2 is one of the best action movies in recent memory, a stylish, absurd exercise in excess with action sequences that resonate more because of their physicality than their ultra-violence. To revisit and revel in its slaughter isn’t to celebrate violence so much as marvel in wonder at the crispness of its choreography, which is probably the best way to approach this compilation from JoBlo. Below, witness all 129 kills from the movie.
Aside from the balletic movement of Keanu Reeves, Ruby Rose, and the film’s chorus of human fodder, the video also highlights the film’s diverse set design, which gives each action sequence a distinct aesthetic that plays a role in the onscreen carnage.
What also comes to mind is this kill count chart from Visu that surfaced shortly after the film’s release. It only counts Wick’s kills and arrives at a total of 128. The above video compiles all kills and has a total of 129. It seems someone is wrong here, because in the above video we see one of the film’s homeless assassins kill two baddies at some point. Alas, the film’s frenetic pace doesn’t lend itself to clarity, so Wick’s true kill count may forever remain a mystery.
Of course, that won’t stop us from doing all of this again when John Wick: Chapter 3 arrives.
