In its final season, Girls is not pretending that friendships are anything but hellish and frustrating. As evidenced by the first trailer, Hannah (Lena Dunham) is still—yes, still—fretting about whether or not she has left her “mark” on New York. “You’ve made so many wonderful friendships,” Elijah (Andrew Rannells) consoles. They burst out laughing, and he adds: “That’s not a thing.“ Even if Hannah’s not being honest about her life goals, at least she’s owning up to the fact that most of her relationships are toxic. Speaking of: the trailer opens with Desi (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) and Marnie (Allison Williams) pulling up in a red convertible, looking like they were dropped in from a Wes Anderson film. Meanwhile, Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) is “freaking out” and Jessa (Jemima Kirke) appears to be going strong with Adam (Adam Driver). We’ll see how this all wraps up starting February 12.
