From the Dept. of Obvious Headlines: You'll have to wait a couple more months to see Jodie Foster's Beaver

Mel Gibson’s puppet-aided redemption has been delayed for another couple of months, with Summit Entertainment moving the perpetually shuffled The Beaver from its scheduled March 23 release to May 6. Ostensibly the new date will allow for “better cast availability” when it comes to doing press appearances—awkward, awkward press appearances—and is timed to coincide with Jodie Foster’s return from shooting a film in Europe. The studio is also counting on a buildup of positive critical reception from its debut at the SXSW Film Festival, where the lobbies will be flooded with fedora-bedecked reporters chattering, “Here’s a headline for ya: ‘Boffo ‘Beaver’ Saves Bonzo Beater’!” as they rush to stop the presses.
