Funny Or Die’s Adam McKay is writing an Archie musical
Famous Riverdale redhead Archie Andrews got a reboot (or, if you prefer, a resurrection) earlier this year, and now it looks like he’s getting a musical. Variety reports that Adam McKay will write the show’s book in collaboration with Archie Comics and Funny Or Die. No director or performer is yet attached, but McKay has already described the developing musical as “bright, colorful and slightly demented,” not unlike that Archie Vs. Predator crossover.
Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa will lead the project; you might recall that Aguirre-Sacasa has dipped his nib in the Archie ink as a writer for the comics as well as Fox’s TV adaptation. Aguirre-Sacasa’s been trying to get Archie onto the small and/or big screen for a while, but we’re hoping his desperation doesn’t lead to another Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark.
