Funny people Dave Franco and Abbi Jacobson made a serious movie about heroin addiction

Dave Franco and Abbi Jacobson’s new movie, 6 Balloons, is a significant departure from anything either actor has done before. Set over the course of one night, the film stars Jacobson as Katie, a woman who discovers her heroin-addicted brother (Franco) has relapsed. At the SXSW premiere for the film, we spoke with Franco, Jacobson, and writer-director Marja-Lewis Ryan about the genesis of the film, and the challenges of playing it straight.
