Funny young people get serious in official trailer for About Alex

There comes a time in every young person’s life when they have to grow up and get serious. It’s a time when they must turn their back on their new girl roommate and their job at the wacky Parks And Recreation Department and tackle some real heavy issues. Maybe they’ll even grow a weird beard and put on some funky glasses to differentiate their new serious persona from their old fun persona. We’ve all experienced it, and now director Jesse Zwick is making a movie about it.

Featuring Max Greenfield, Aubrey Plaza, Jason Ritter, Jane Levy, and a few others, this trailer for Zwick’s About Alex makes it look like an Avengers of likable young actors, but it’s actually a comedic drama about friendship and life and other things that aren’t superheroes. The story deals with a group of twentysomething friends who get back together after one of them attempts suicide. Rather than a fun weekend away, the group has a bunch of big conversations and ill-advised sex, presumably resulting in a lot of unexpected growing up. Also, Max Greenfield has a weird beard and funky glasses. He’s so grown up!

About Alex will make you feel ways about stuff when it hits theaters this August.
