Furious 8 officially becomes Fast 8, will probably still have plenty of road rage
Vin Diesel has displayed ample ability to be both Fast & Furious on screen, but he’s also proven himself proficient at promoting the films behind the scenes. The actor regularly shares news on the franchise via his social media accounts, including the extensive search for a director and the possibility of a protracted conclusion to the series. In his latest act as steward of the muscle-bound, muscle-car action, Diesel has dispensed with the ampersand again for the title of the new film. Now it’s Fast 8 that will ride roughshod over the box-office competition this spring, leaving the Furious 8 moniker its dust.
Captured below in the familiar, forward-slanting font (which could just be italics, but is probably meant to convey the breakneck speed of production), Fast 8 will travel on “new roads” come April, with F. Gary Gray directing.
But if skateboarding (the Xtreme kind) is more your speed, Diesel also shared a photo from a bitchin’ training sesh on the set of his other action franchise, which is seeing new life as xXx: The Return Of Xander Cage. In his Facebook post, Diesel can be seen holding a long board at sunset, presumably having just brought the thrashin’ to its gnarly end. The film doesn’t have a release date yet, but we do know that Samuel L. Jackson is reprising his role as Agent Gibbons alongside Diesel’s Xander Cage, all under the watchful eye of Eagle Eye director D.J. Caruso.
Training for Xander is so much fun… can’t wait to film this long board sequence that the director showed me.Have a great weekend all…
