Further Adventure In Press Releases

From my inbox:

Every dog has his day, and in this no-holds-barred memoir, Dog The Bounty Hunter finally has his. YOU CAN RUN BUT YOU CAN'T HIDE is the remarkable memoir by Duane "Dog" Chapman, the hugely popular star of the top-rated A&E; hit show, Dog The Bounty Hunter. Dog entertains and inspires millions in his show–but there's much more to his story.

Weird, because I would have thought there was much less to his story. After all, he has a reality show that documents his family, his weird philosophical musings like "At the end of the criminal rainbow, there is no pot of gold," and his endless, endless bounty hunting. What's left that we don't already know? White-man dreadlock tips?

Still, it all sounds very exciting. Most memoirs only allow one or two holds, but Dog's memoir is going to allow every single type of story-telling hold! No-holds-barred! That's the way to read!

For the first time ever, Dog reveals the secrets of how he made the decision to turn his life around and become the greatest bounty hunter to ever live. From troubled beginnings and tragedy, to triumph and transformation, Dog reveals all in his inspiring and moving memoir.

So he secretly decided one day to become "the greatest bounter hunter to ever live"? I'm confused. He's going to tell us the secret to coming up with absurdly cartoonish goals? I'm pretty sure the secret to that is thinking, possibly while drunk. But I had no idea that Dog had been through so many vague, alliterative things in his life. What kind of "troubled beginnings and tragedy" followed by "triumph and transformation"?

In YOU CAN RUN BUT YOU CAN'T HIDE, Dog talks candidly about his life, his unshakable devotion to God, and his most infamous bounty hunts…He also shares the inside stories on his days as a gang member, being the number one Kirby Vacuum salesman in the world, and how serving 18 months in a Texas prison helped him rediscover his faith.

It's hard to see how an "inside story" about being a gang member or being in prison would be as exciting as an "inside story" about calling people and trying to get them to buy tons of extra attachments for their vacuum cleaners–but, then again, maybe the "inside story" about gangs and prison is that they're incredibly, mind-numbingly boring.

As for Dog's unshakable faith, all you have to do is go to his website, and look at the banner across the top that reads "In Dog we trust" to see how totally not shakable his faith in himself is.

Surprisingly funny, wonderfully moving, and startlingly open, YOUCANRUN BUT YOU CAN'T HIDE is the real-life story of Duane "Dog" Chapman, the modern-day hero who has gone from ex-con to American icon.

"Ex-con to American icon" sounds an awful lot like a Dog-ism.

If only everyone's life could be summed up by a rhyming phrase that doesn't bar any holds!
