The Hollywood Reporter reports that the universally reviled Jerry Seinfeld-produced atrocity The Marriage Ref has been renewed for a second season by NBC executives who apparently despise humanity with a passion and ferocity that boggles the imagination. For those keeping score at home, that's one more renewal than Freaks And Geeks ever received. Hey, remember when people liked Seinfeld and he did good work that people enjoyed? What was the deal with that?
The article quotes NBC Executive Vice President Paul Telegdy's suspiciously faint praise for the show: "It's doing a good job for us. It's certainly noisy. We've seen the show find its feet. We think its a show that's improving, and we got high hopes for it." Gee, that sounds an awful lot like, "Yeah, the show is fucking terrible and everyone knows it's fucking terrible but it can't get any worse, can it? There's nowhere to go but up!" Sounds like someone's cautiously optimistic. Not us, though.
