Future Islands announce new album and tour, stream first song “Ran”
On April 7 Future Islands will release The Far Field, the follow-up to the band’s breakout record Singles, on 4AD. The press release notes that the record is the first Future Islands record to feature live drums from Michael Lowry, who joined the band just before the performance of “Seasons (Waiting On You)” on The Late Show With David Letterman back in 2014. In addition, the record sees Patrick McMinn contributing string and horn arrangements, as well as Blondie’s Debbie Harry making an appearance on “Shadows.” Today, the band released “Ran,” a song that serves as a continuation of the sounds found on Singles as well as a nice holdover for fans that have been eagerly awaiting something new from Future Islands.
