FX announces premiere dates for Louis C.K. special, Denis Leary’s new show, and other things

FX, the Fox spinoff network that’s so successful it has its own spinoff network, has a bunch of projects in its proverbial pipeline, and it wants everyone to know when those projects are going to show up on their TVs. We’re not making any jokes here, we just needed a general introduction to set up this news story about premiere dates. Still, this is fun, right?

First up is Louis C.K.: Live From The Comedy Store, a new hour-long comedy special from Louie protagonist Louis C.K. that was filmed at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles—though you could probably discern most of that from its title. The special will premiere on FX on May 28, just after the season finale of Louie. This will be the first comedy special from Louis to air on FX since 2012’s Live At The Beacon Theater, which was filmed live at the Beacon Theater in New York.

Next is Tyrant, the drama series that FX is keeping around just for the people who leave their TV on all summer, which will start its second season on June 16. A month later, on July 16, Denis Leary will make his triumphant return to FX—the former home of Rescue Me—as a washed-up rock star on the spacebar-averse Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll (which already has a series order from the network). Immediately after Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll will be the premiere of the second season of Married. Horror series The Strain will also return at some point this summer, but we don’t know when.
