Ever since leaving Community to sail around the world with LeVar Burton, Donald Glover has been developing a comedy series about the music scene in his hometown of Atlanta. (So maybe he wasn’t actually sailing around the world with LeVar Burton.) FX ordered a pilot for the show back in July, with Glover set to star as an aspiring rapper, Brian Tyree Henry playing his cousin, and Dope’s Lakeith Lee Stanfield as the cousin’s “musical collaborator.” Now, according to Deadline, FX has apparently realized that Donald Glover is great, because it has already given a series order to Atlanta. The show will premiere at some point in 2016, and hopefully it will continue the trend of FX shows being better than Netflix shows (according to the CEO of FX).
FX has had a busy few weeks, between Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll recently getting a second season and the Y: The Last Man adaptation that was announced yesterday.
