As predicted by encouraging comments at the FX upfronts, as well as the burgeoning Cold War revival craze the show has kicked off in Ukraine, The Americans has officially been renewed for a third season. The show has remained strong in both critical acclaim and storytelling in its second season, and the dramatic possibilities remain endless for where it can go from here—except for having the Soviet Union bring down America from the inside, because clearly that hasn’t happened (yet). But there are definitely many exciting new scenarios to come in which Keri Russell might work her considerable feminine wiles on a dumpy low-level intelligence worker and Matthew Rhys looks on in a ridiculous wig, all while Vladimir Putin takes copious notes.
