FX partners with Comcast on ad-free subscription service

A la carte cable (or satellite, if you’re one of those) service is looking less like a pipe dream every day—in addition to various cord-cutting options, retail giant Amazon offers add-on subscriptions for about 20 channels to its Prime members, and Hulu’s got your HBO and Cinemax needs covered. Now FX and Comcast have teamed up on an ad-free subscription service that will give Xfinity TV users access to all that sweet, Fargo and Fargo-adjacent content. The platform has a straightforward if unimaginative name: it’s simply known as FX+. Here’s the logo, which seems to have been whipped up in the same marketing meeting as the name.

But, unassuming appearance and moniker aside, FX+ is fairly bursting with great viewing options for subscribers, with none of those pesky commercials to interrupt your You’re The Worst binge. Xfinity TV subscribers can add the service for just $5.99 a month. The service is set to launch on September 5, and will give users access to the complete FX library, including It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Archer, Legion, American Horror Story, and yes, Terriers. Eventually, the platform will have 1100+ episodes of programming from the last 15 years, which will be added in waves to this online archive. But all of those old episodes of The Shield and Nip/Tuck are expected to available by 2018. Here’s a complete list of what FX+ has to offer.
