Gabriel Chavarria to play the human in War Of The Planet Of The Apes
According to Deadline, Gabriel Chavarria (Freedom Writers, Aquarius, the upcoming Low Riders) has signed on to be “one of two human leads” in War Of The Planet Of The Apes. We don’t know much about Chavarria’s role, but Deadline does say it will be “much like James Franco’s part” in Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, which is to say that both characters are humans. (Other notable humans: James Franco’s character in Spider-Man, the guy who carved the faces on Mount Rushmore, and James Franco’s character in Spider-Man 2.)
War Of The Planet Of The Apes (which we’re going to call WOPOA for short) will be directed by Matt Reeves, who also directed last year’s Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes. Presumably, the plot for WOPOA will follow the thread of the previous two movies (and the million before the reboot), with super-intelligent apes slowly taking over the planet, going to war with humans, and eventually blowing up the Statue Of Liberty. WOPOA will start filming in October, so we’ll probably know more about it around then.
