Game Of Thrones editor killed in lion attack
Katherine Chappell, a visual effects editor who worked on Game Of Thrones and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, among other projects, has died. She was 29.
What makes the story so unusual is that Chappell was killed by a lion while vacationing in South Africa. According to Variety, she was visiting Johannesburg’s Lion Park earlier this week, and was taking pictures of the animal from a vehicle in which her group was traveling. After snapping a photo, the lion—less than four feet away—lunged into the car through the open window, fatally biting Chappell in the neck. The assistant operations manager at the park told CNN the group had their windows all the way down, which is “absolutely forbidden at our park.” Chappell died of her wounds before paramedics could arrive on the scene.
In addition to Game Of Thrones and the aforementioned Marvel film, Chappell worked on Godzilla, Divergent, and Noah. The forthcoming Ron Howard film In The Heart Of The Sea will feature her final onscreen work.
