A few years ago, Game Of Thrones showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff got a chance to write an episode of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, a show that they’re both big fans of. While the two shows might seem totally unrelated on the surface, the connections between the two are actually pretty clear: Both focus on the political maneuvers that shape one specific region, both center around the impact that one evil family has on the world, both occasionally deal with incest, and both prominently feature a horde of ice zombies that everybody’s going to have to worry about eventually.
Alright, so we couldn’t actually think of very many ways that the shows relate to each other, but the point is that Weiss and Benioff are such big fans of the Paddy’s Pub gang that they recently told TMZ that they’re trying to find a way to fit It’s Always Sunny‘s Charlie Day and Rob McElhenney into Game Of Thrones. That’s as far as the quick interview goes on that topic, so we don’t know what sort of characters Day and McElhenney (can we just call them Charlie and Mac?) would be playing, but we hope they get to be people who are hugely important to the show’s mythology. Maybe they’re long-lost Targaryens who should rightfully rule Westeros? Maybe they’re previously unmentioned Lannister children? Maybe they’re wizards who know how to bring Ned Stark back to life? Or, better yet, maybe they’ll just be weirdly conspicuous corpses, hanging out in the background of a battle scene?
