Gamora

Who she is: Gamora

Her power: Gamora was genetically altered by Thanos to be a living weapon, making her one of the deadliest assassins in the galaxy. Her powers are purely physical—enhanced strength, speed, and prowess.

Her story: The sole surviving member of her race, Gamora was adopted by Thanos after he wiped them out. He modified her physically, and after years of serving him, she seized a chance to betray him and leave by taking her mission to retrieve the orb containing an infinity stone and sell it instead to the Collector (as depicted in Guardians Of The Galaxy). However, after realizing the threat posed by Ronan The Accuser, she joins the other Guardians in helping to retrieve the stone, killing Ronan and defeating her half-sister, Nebula.

In Guardians Vol. 2, Gamora and the other members of her crew capture Nebula to get the bounty, but instead find themselves hunted by a race called The Sovereign, forcing them to hide out on an alien planet named Ego, who turns out to be Star-Lord’s father. However, Gamora is eventually confronted by Nebula, who was taken by the Ravagers but joined up with them to return to her sister. The two fight but come to an understanding, just in time for Nebula to help the rest of the Guardians stop Ego from destroying all other life. You know, just another day on the job.

Played by: Zoe Saldana

Currently, Gamora is: Roaming space with her fellow Guardians.

Where will we see her next? The massive Avengers: Infinity War, coming May 4, 2018.
