Garret Dillahunt might be trying to will a Deadwood movie into existence on Twitter
Actor Garret Dillahunt, who played two separate characters on HBO’s much lamented Deadwood, has reported on social media that he’s heard “credible rumors” about the possibility of a movie set in David Milch’s frontier haven for Shakespearean swears. And, as with all completely credible reports of million-dollar film decisions, Dillahunt’s Tweet on the subject begins with the phrase, “So uh…,” and ends with a request for prayer:
It wouldn’t be out of the question for HBO to launch a feature film conclusion to one of its beloved original shows; for several months, rumors were swirling about a cinematic conclusion to Game Of Thrones, and, as Dillahunt pointed out in a subsequent tweet, Entourage got the grand finale its epic storytelling demanded, just four short years after it bro’d its way off the air.
Still, the tone of the Justified star’s tweets is a lot less “Hollywood insider spilling the beans,” and a lot more, “Come on guys, we can do it if we believe,” so you’re going to want to take all this with a grain of salt, especially since, as HBO has taught us all, this world is full of hoopleheads and cruel monsters who live for the pleasure of crushing other people’s beautiful dreams (and also sometimes their skulls).
