Gayle King insists that Oprah is not running for president, and she should know
Gayle King is suggesting that her best friend Oprah Winfrey is in all likelihood not going to run for president, despite the comment Winfrey made in a Bloomberg interview that made the rounds yesterday. (The conversation, according to CNN, was originally taped in December.) Chatting with David Rubenstein, Winfrey explained that recent events—i.e., the election of Donald Trump—prompted the revelation that she wasn’t as unqualified for the office as she previously thought.
However, King said on her show CBS This Morning Thursday that Winfrey’s remark was just meant to be taken as a humorous quip. “I was in the audience that day and it was clearly a joke when she was playing with David because they have such a great rapport,” she said. King is really confident that Winfrey will not try to make a bid for the presidency. “I would bet my first, second born, and any unborn children to come that ain’t never happening,” she added. If we trust anyone on matters relating to Winfrey, it’s King, so consider this dream dead.
