Gaze into a dystopian future where Parks And Recreation is ending
As telegraphed by the closing minutes of last season, the final episodes of Parks And Recreation come to you from “the distant future”—a dystopian time when drones have replaced our menial laborers, Terrys have replaced our Garys and Jerrys, and a network’s once-mighty Thursday night comedy block has crumbled, replaced by the cold, unfeeling face of James Spader. Yes, 2017 is a dark time, as is the early weeks of 2015 that will see Parks banished to Tuesday and burned off in a matter of weeks. But at least there are glimmers of happy fictional endings for Pawnee in this crazy weird trailer: Andy’s successful TV career as Johnny Karate, Tom’s shiny-suited mogul-dom, some cool new computers, a Chicago trip during one of the months it’s really nice here, etc. And if Leslie’s exclamation of “We’re screwed” feels a bit self-referential about the show being brusquely shown the door, at least this preview confirms it’s not going quietly.
