Geena Davis would love to be in Beetlejuice 2, if someone would ask her

It’s not easy being Geena Davis these days, mostly because she’s insanely busy. In addition to running the Geena Davis Institute Of Women In Media (an organization we’ve reported on before), she also manages the Bentonville Film Festival, which she co-founded and will see the release of its first winning film, the documentary In My Father’s House, on October 9. But hey, just because she’s got a full-time job plus more work doesn’t mean she wouldn’t be down for that Beetlejuice sequel we keep talking about. And as ETonline reports, she’d be the first one on set for it—if only someone would ask her.

I did hear that it’s really happening. No one’s talked to me about it. I would love to! That was one of my favorite movies, too.

Davis, who plays recently deceased Barbara Maitland in the film, alongside equally pulse-deprived onscreen husband Alec Baldwin, is obviously happy to redo that perm and get to work. However, she also brings up a reasonable point, in terms of the whole “I was a ghost” scenario: “But ghosts probably don’t age, and it’s going to be 30 years now. Of course, I haven’t aged, but I think Alec Baldwin maybe has aged, perhaps,” she says, confirming that she can laugh about it, and also that everyone enjoys a good Alec Baldwin burn. She was curiously silent on the subject of Beetlejuice himself aging, given that time hasn’t exactly stood still for Michael Keaton, either; but then again, he was more than just a ghost, no? And really, who says ghosts don’t age? You’re selling the afterlife short, Geena Davis: It could easily be just as painful and depressing as real life, only way worse, because the aging never stops.
