George Clooney comes to the rescue of Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity
Alfonso Cuaron’s 3D sci-fi drama Gravity has finally found its male lead, with Deadline reporting that George Clooney will take over for most recently departed star Robert Downey Jr. As anyone who’s been following our updates knows, the film had taken on the aura of a cursed production, with stars like Angelina Jolie and Natalie Portman signing on to play the sole survivor of a space station destroyed by an asteroid, then backing out for various reasons. Back in October, Sandra Bullock finally agreed to take the lead, and with Clooney playing the husband she’s desperately trying to return to, Gravity is back on for a late-spring production after Bullock finishes hoovering up all the Oscars in Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close. Which is great news for Cuaron, the Children Of Men director who’s spent the past year wondering why he couldn’t get this movie made, but bad news for everyone else’s Gravity Casting Fantasy League, which just ended its season.
