George R.R. Martin to produce another fantasy drama for HBO

George R.R. Martin just landed a TV pilot on Syfy, but since he probably doesn’t have any books he should be working on right now, he has already decided to start working on another TV project. According to Variety, HBO is developing an adaptation of Nnedi Okorafor’s book Who Fears Death, which is about a girl named Onyesonwu—or “Who fears death?”—in a post-apocalyptic Africa who realizes she has magical powers as she grows up, which threatens the rule of a genocidal tribe that is enslaving her people. Okorafor announced the news herself on Twitter, noting that George R.R. Martin will be an executive producer:

Variety adds that “the deal is not officially closed,” however, so there’s still a chance that this might not happen.
