Get in the Chris-mas spirit with Chris Farren’s Christmas album, Like A Gift From God Or Whatever

As the singer of Fake Problems and Antarctigo Vespucci, Chris Farren carries a certain amount of name recognition in a specific corner of the punk world, even if he may be known by the larger world as the purveyor of those “The Smiths” T-shirts. With all these projects up in the air Farren found time to throw another one in the mix, and the result is his first-ever Christmas album, Like A Gift From God Or Whatever. The album sees Farren in peak joke-making form (song titles include “Chris Farren’s Disney’s Frozen” and “Emo Revival Christmas 2014”), but he brought a cavalcade of friends in to help make the album a full-blown party. “I’m Not Ready For Christmas” sees Mae Whitman of Arrested Development and Parenthood fame dueting with Farren, while other tracks feature Jeff Rosenstock, Andrew Jackson Jihad’s Sean Bonnette, Laura Stevenson, Jenny Owen Youngs, and many more, all of whom offer their own glad tidings to the album. The A.V. Club is streaming all of Like A Gift From God Or Whatever below, and throughout the month of December every copy of the album purchased via Farren’s Bandcamp will see proceeds going to the National Alliance On Mental Illness.
