Get Involved, Internet: Help Abel Ferrara and Willem Dafoe make a movie about dreams
Sure, a movie directed by Abel Ferrara and starring Willem Dafoe on the subject of dreams sounds more like a nightmare. A gritty, graphically violent nightmare. But the duo, who previously worked together on New Rose Hotel, Go Go Tales, 4:44 Last Day On Earth, and Pasolini, appears to be going in a different direction with their latest collaboration, Siberia. Based on Carl Jung’s The Red Book—in which the noted psychologist recorded his experiments with what he referred to alternately as “visions,” “fantasies,” and “imaginations” in an attempt to understand the subconscious mind—the script for Siberia was co-written by Ferrara and screenwriter/psychiatrist Chris Zois. It promises “a subjective and objective journey into the subconscious,”and will feature Dafoe in multiple roles. In short, it’s going to be pretty trippy, dude.
