Get Involved, Internet: Help Hurricane Sandy-decimated Norton Records by buying mixes made by Yo La Tengo

Norton Records—a label that’s released albums by everyone from The Stooges to Big Star—was all but destroyed when Hurricane Sandy swept through its Red Hook, Brooklyn offices. Fortunately, the music community has a tendency to look out for its own, and Yo La Tengo is donating all the proceeds from the mixes it made for this year’s Maxwell’s Hanukkah residency to help the label out. Ira Kaplan, Georgia Hubley, and James McNew’s curated mixes will be available to download today only for $10 each from Three Lobed Records. Two mixes of songs culled from the Norton catalog and one from the Three Lobed catalog are also available for purchase.

A video of the label’s warehouse post-Sandy is below. Anyone not wanting to make a purchase but still interested in donating can do so here. [via Pitchfork]
