Get Involved, Internet: Help Jem fans make a better Jem movie

Today in news that disgruntled Transformers nerds probably didn’t realize was a thing you could do, a group of Jem And The Holograms fans have announced that they’re going to make a Jem movie of their own to make up for that lousy adaptation from last year. The project is titled Truly Outrageous: A Jem Fan Film, and to pay for it they’ve set up a Kickstarter campaign with a goal of $12,000. The team behind Truly Outrageous also made a video last year in which classic ‘80s Jem reacted to the trailer for the new movie, but they’re quick to note that Truly Outrageous isn’t really meant to be an attack on the Jem movie. Instead, it’s just a Jem story that they want to tell, and it will be set within the timeline of the original cartoon. That means everything will be totally ‘80s, right down to the zany costumes and some new, Jem-like original songs.

The Kickstarter rewards that Truly Outrageous backers can get range from cheap/easy stuff like a free follow on Twitter all the way up to crazier options like one of Jem’s wigs, a speaking part in the movie, and a chance to go to the premiere. As of right now, the project has raised a little over $500, but it still has 29 days to go in the campaign. You can see the “Jem Reacts” video and the Kickstarter pitch below.
