Get Involved, Internet: Help turn Ian Curtis’ home into a Joy Division museum
A group of Joy Division fans is trying to turn frontman Ian Curtis’ Macclesfield, England home into a museum. The fans are trying to raise about $176,000 on Indiegogo to buy Curtis’ onetime home, which is also the place where he hung himself. They’d also like to bank about $46,000 to renovate the home back to its original, Curtis-era interior, as well as about $8,000 for contingencies and to cover legal fees. Organizers say “any extra funds made will go to doing the renovation to a higher standard,” just like Curtis’ “millions of fans” think he’d want.
So far, the campaign has only raised about $1,500, but still has about 42 days rack up some more bucks.
