According to Variety, Gina Gershon has joined the cast of Nine Eleven, the Charlie Sheen-starring indie drama about—what else?—the attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001. Gershon will be playing Sheen’s estranged wife (with Sheen playing “a billionaire businessman”), and the plot revolves around the two of them getting stuck in an elevator along with “a bike messenger, a young executive, and a building maintenance worker” in the North Tower on the morning of September 11. Nine Eleven also stars Luis Guzman, Wood Harris, Whoopi Goldberg, and Olga Fonda, and it’s being directed by Martin Guigui (National Lampoon’s Cattle Call) who also co-wrote the screenplay.
At this point, it seems important to note that this is an actual story and not a bizarre dream we’re all having together, even though that’s the only way for this whole thing to make sense.
