Girl With Dragon Tattoo sequel might have found its new Lisbeth Salander
Sony’s developing Girl With The Dragon Tattoo sequel has made some significant strides this year—after languishing in production for a while, the film has scored Fede Alvarez as director, and might have even found its new Lisbeth Salander. Variety reports The Crown’s Claire Foy is the studio’s top pick for the young hacker created by Stieg Larsson. The late author’s Millennium series was adapted into a successful Swedish film trilogy, part of which got an American update in David Fincher’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
The sequel, The Girl In The Spider’s Web, is based on the fourth book in Larsson’s series; the script is being written by Swedish journalist and author David Lagercrantz. . Foy currently stars as a young Queen Elizabeth II on Netflix’s The Crown, which is currently in production for season two. If confirmed, she’ll follow in Noomi Rapace and Rooney Mara’s footsteps, which isn’t too shabby, especially when you consider that Mara scored her first Oscar nomination for her portrayal. Lisbeth’s collaborator and sometime lover, Mikael Blomkvist, has not yet been cast, but was previously played by Daniel Craig and Michael Nyqvist
The Girl In The Spider’s Web is slated for release on October 19, 2018.
