Girls adds a girl and a boy to its cast

Girls is adding two new actors to its world of young people who don’t know what they want to do with their lives, yet know that they do it best. According to Deadline, Desiree Akhavan and Peter Mark Kendall will join the show in its upcoming fourth season, likely playing Hannah’s classmates at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop—which won’t actually be filmed at the University of Iowa but will be filmed in random places in Iowa City.

Fittingly, Akhavan directed and starred in her debut feature film, Appropriate Behavior, which recently premiered at Sundance, where it was instantly referred to as a lesbian Persian-American version of Girls. She’s also worked on a web series called The Slope. Kendall is a relative newcomer with a few small TV credits and an extensive theatrical résumé who recently earned an MFA at Brown University. Presumably both will play characters who are far less motivated and poised.
