Girls’ Allison Williams to be Twitter’s inevitable punching bag in Peter Pan Live!
Transitioning from one tale of children who refuse to grow up to another, Girls’ Allison Williams has signed on to play the lead in NBC’s Peter Pan Live! (a title that reflects the excitement NBC hopes it will stir, not a storyline where Peter Pan spends two hours flatlining on a gurney). Of course, like Peter Pan’s predecessor in The Sound Of Music Live!, much of that excitement will be measured in catty remarks on social media. And the network has all but ensured that by casting Williams, whose role on a show about a less literal Peter Pan syndrome, her character’s own cringe-inducing singing career, and her dad, NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams, gives Twitter at least three different possible spins on making fun of her, thus guaranteeing success.
As previously reported, Christopher Walken will play Captain Hook. Tweets about a clock being stuffed up a crocodile’s ass have been sitting in “Drafts” folders for weeks.
