Girls writer shopping a new show about being 34 And Pregnant

Yahoo is reportedly in talks with Girls writer Lesley Arfin about acquiring her 34 And Pregnant, described as a half-hour “female-friendly” comedy. The Internet company is looking to join the likes of Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu in developing more original content by acquiring four 10-episode, half-hour comedies. 34 And Pregnant, whose title is a play on MTV’s 16 And Pregnant, could be one of them.

Variety reports that Arfin’s “mom-com” was initially being developed as a digital-only series for HBO Go. In addition to her work on Girls, Arfin also writes for Brooklyn Nine-Nine—though she is perhaps best known for an infamous tweet, intended as a response to critiques of Girls’ cast diversity.

Yahoo is particularly eager to close deals with reputable television writers or stars very soon, as it’s interested in debuting its original lineup plans to potential advertisers on April 28, at the Digital Content NewFronts conference.
