Glastonbury lineup announced: U2, Snoop Dogg, Muse, Stevie Wonder, and a gazillion more

For all our British friends and anyone who enjoys transatlantic flights and probable mud, here are some of the just-announced headliners of this year’s Glastonbury festival, running June 23 to June 27: U2, Stevie Wonder, Snoop Dogg, Muse, Vampire Weekend, Pet Shop Boys, Willie Nelson, The Flaming Lips, Hot Chip, Phoenix, Dizzee Rascal, Editors, Scissor Sisters, Julian Casablancas, Norah Jones, Ray Davies, Gang Of Four, Broken Social Scene, The xx, Slash, Jackson Browne, The Black Keys, Mos Def, George Clinton, Broken Bells, Fatboy Slim, Dirty Projectors, Midlake, Beach House, Corinne Bailey-Rae, Richard Thompson, Nick Lowe, Femi Kuti, Os Mutantes, Devendra Banhart, The Hold Steady, Frightened Rabbit, Grizzly Bear, MGMT, Orbital, and LCD Soundsystem. It's been dubbed “the most staggering lineup to match the 40-year reputation of the festival” by completely impartial founder Michael Eavis. (Of course, if you were waiting to see the lineup before you committed, whoops, tickets are already sold out.)

And because after the headline-grabbing hullabaloo surrounding Jay-Z’s “controversial” set in 2008, everyone has to pretend like they’re still scared of rappers, naturally the press has zeroed in on Snoop Dogg, forcing Eavis to comment that he has no “concerns about the rapper’s reputation.” (But… but… what if he rolls your farm up in a blunt and smokes it? Will you be concerned then?) He then added, “We never pass judgment on the people who play here; we hire them for their musical ability,” which should give you folks who always pop up in the comments to say how much you dislike hip-hop all the ammo you need to start doing that right now.
