Glee Live! gets a 3-D movie, extra exclamation point

Having successfully turned karaoke into a viable basis for a primetime soap opera, albums, and a live tour, Glee is taking the next logical step with a 3-D movie: Glee Live! 3D!—the extra exclamation points serving as lightning rods for your excitement—will comprise footage from this summer’s upcoming Glee Live! concerts, which will feature most of the show’s cast singing and dancing without the added onus of framing them on some sort of flimsy dramatic structure. It’s being helmed by Fame director Kevin Tancharoen, whose recent work on the Mortal Kombat web series likely doesn’t have any bearing on the film’s potential for fatalities. Anyway, you can catch it in a limited two-week theatrical run beginning August 12, when it debuts against the sunny Southern racism dramedy The Help, which suddenly doesn’t seem so exciting. The Help! Southern Racism Y'All! In 2-D! There, maybe like that.
