Glen Hansard announces November tour dates

Glen Hansard has been performing with The Frames for about 25 years and with Markéta Irglová as The Swell Season for the last decade, as well as squeezing in an award-winning movie performance here and there. And, of course, dropping by The A.V. Club to contribute a Neutral Milk Hotel cover to our A.V. Undercover series:

And following that up with a performance in the Undercover Summer Break series, this time covering The Band’s “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down” with Lisa Hannigan and John Smith:

Even so, it’s kind of hard to believe Hansard’s put out just one solo album, 2012’s Rhythm And Repose. But just in case you were starting to question his work ethic, Hansard has announced a new solo record and tour. On September 18, Anti-Records will release Didn’t He Ramble, and Hansard will hit the North American road in November to support it. The album was produced by frequent Hansard collaborator Thomas Bartlett, who’s also worked with Sufjan Stevens and The National. The first single, “Winning Streak,” was released last month; Hansard told NPR that the song is simply one “of encouragement.”

Hansard will tour in the U.S. and Canada this November, including shows at not one but two Orpheum Theatres. He’ll be joined by Aoife O’Donovan of The Crooked Still for the first half of the tour.
