Glenn Danzig defends Trump’s Muslim ban, criticizes Planned Parenthood

Over the weekend, Glenn Danzig held his Blackest Of The Black metal festival in California, and in what was presumably an attempt at anti-promotion, he gave an interview with The L.A. Times (via Stereogum) in which he off-handedly noted that he supports Donald Trump’s Muslim ban and that he doesn’t think Planned Parenthood should be “selling baby parts like a chop shop in Brooklyn.”

Despite these comments, Danzig doesn’t present himself as some kind of hardcore conservative. He says he “might be conservative” on some issues, but he’s also “really liberal” on others. For example, even though he doesn’t approve of the—largely overblown and fictionalized—process of selling baby parts like a chop shop in Brooklyn, he says he’s “pro-abortion” and “pro-Planned Parenthood.” That statement stands in stark contrast with how readily Danzig brings up Trump’s travel ban, pointing out that it’s “really not a travel ban” and that it makes sense for a country to “want to see who you are and what you’re doing” when you try to enter its borders. He also says that he’s been “turned away” from entering Canada a few times, asking why never got a protest or a parade on his behalf.

Whatever his political leanings may be, Danzig also wants to make it clear that he doesn’t identify with Trump, he simply dislikes the “stupidity” of the people who oppose him. Basically, he’s saying that he thinks the people who don’t like Trump are worse than Trump because it’s stupid to think his travel ban is racist, which is pretty stupid.
