Godspeed You! Black Emperor adds "Weird Al" Yankovic to All Tomorrow's Parties
Long-dormant Canadian post-rockers Godspeed You! Black Emperor are set to return to the stage this December with a headlining set at All Tomorrow’s Parties’ Nightmare Before Christmas, but as anticipated as that appearance is, the band—which is also curating—may have just one-upped itself by adding “Weird Al” Yankovic to the lineup. According to the festival website, Yankovic’s appearance will be his first-ever European show—and if said website can be believed, he’s going to make the most of it with a set featuring “a full band, huge video screens, numerous costume changes and much more.”
The rest of the lineup as it currently stands is a little more in keeping with GY!BE’s usual milieu, including sets from Neurosis, Bardo Pond, The Ex, Deerhoof, The Dead C, Black Dice, Francisco Lopez, Tim Hecker, Mike Watt, Scout Niblett, Wolves In The Throne Room, Marissa Nadler, Growing, Rangda, Nomeansno, Josephine Foster, White Magic, Emeralds, Daniel Higgs (Lungfish), Boban, and Marko Markovic Orchestra, every single one of whom will probably be amassed on the side of the stage trying to catch “Amish Paradise.”
