Godzilla Vs. Kong is a real thing that’s actually happening

Having ignored the heightened radiation levels and subterranean rumblings that accompanied the announcement of Skull Island’s move from Universal to Warner Bros. last month, the moviegoing public will now be forced to contend with the horror of Godzilla Vs. Kong in 2020. A press release touting the pairing says that this awesome punishment for man’s hubris comes not only as a corrective measure to restore the balance of blockbuster nature, but will be third in a series of films that also includes the previously announced Kong: Skull Island in 2017 and Godzilla 2 in 2018.

And Destroy All CGI Monsters can’t be far behind, as Legendary Pictures, the company that produced 2014’s Godzilla, has entered into a pact with Warner Bros. that will allow it and parent company Universal access to Godzilla’s pals/mortal enemies Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah as well. (Godzooky’s fate is unknown at present.) All the films in this new giant-monster “ecosystem” will be connected by the humans in the Monarch organization, the group of scientists led by Ken Watanabe in the 2014 film. Because as fans already know, a Godzilla movie ought to be about 90 percent Japanese guys talking.
