Gorillaz return with their first new song in 6 years, “Hallelujah Money”

After releasing a series of teasers insisting that the band has four cartoon members when we all know full goddamn well it’s a project from Blur’s Damon Albarn and Tank Girl creator Jamie Hewlett, this morning Gorillaz released their first new single in six years. Called “Hallelujah Money,” the song—and its accompanying video, which you can see below—features vocals from Mercury Prize-winning poet and composer Benjamin Clementine. It’s a prescient warning about the dangers of greed that, according to the press release announcing the single, “explores themes of power, big business and humanity.”

Interestingly, according to that same press release, “Hallelujah Money” is not the first single from the new Gorillaz album, which is due out sometime soon.
