Like a certain superhero you won’t be seeing, Gotham will get some extra time to grow, make mistakes, teeter on the edge between light and dark, and upset its butler, as Fox has picked it up for a full season. Even though it’s still young—and reckless—the show has already proven to be a strong performer, giving the network its highest-rated debut for a new drama in 14 years and tying as Monday’s top drama among adults 18 to 49, with record-setting gains in DVR viewership. On the basis of that, Fox has added six more episodes to its original 16-episode order, giving Gotham six more weeks in which to learn that vengeance does not solve anything, and that these things are best left to the police and/or people tying other people to giant balloons.
