Gravity writer making Atlantis movie, gonna lose some people in the ocean this time
After enjoying massive critical and commercial success with his screenplay about people lost in outer space, Jonas Cuaron—who co-wrote Gravity with his father, Alfonso—will draft another movie for Warner Bros. about people lost in the ocean, known in scientific circles as “the outer space of water.” Cuaron has been brought aboard The Lost City, a project Variety describes as a “new take on the mythical underwater kingdom” of Atlantis that’s been explored in movies nearly since the advent of cinema, but probably never with two beautiful movie stars just sort of floating through it. While producer Akiva Goldsman is attached, the studio—despite some early interest from Peter Jackson—has still yet to announce a director, presumably because all of their choices keep drowning. How many more directors will you send to a watery grave to satiate your box-office bloodlust, Warner Bros.?!
