Grease: Live scores its Danny Zuko
Graceland’s Aaron Tveit is the one that Fox wants to play Danny Zuko in the network’s upcoming production of Grease: Live. The three-hour live production is set to air on January 31, 2016 and will also star Carlos PenaVega—from Big Time Rush the Nickelodeon show and Big Time Rush the band—as hickey-giving Kenickie.
Tveit will star opposite Julianne Hough as Sandy, who’s joined by Vanessa Hudgens as Rizzo and Keke Palmer as Marty Maraschino. Look, there are worse things Fox could do than cast someone as lackluster as Hudgens as the show’s real, true best character, but…actually, no there’s not, making Tveit the best casting news to come from the production so far.
Grease: Live will be executive produced by Wicked’s Marc Platt and stage directed by Thomas Kail. Alex Rudzinski will helm the production for television, and Broadway writers Robert Cary from Anything But Love and Jonathan Tolins from Buyer & Cellar will write the live TV adaptation of the original musical by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey.
