Gretchen, stop trying to make Hocus Pocus 2 happen, it’s not going to happen

Because hope springs eternal, and also because the internet has roughly the memory of a goldfish, everybody keeps batting around the idea of Hocus Pocus 2 happening, even though any rumors about the idea are immediately quashed, like when Tina Fey started making a different witch-themed comedy and everybody lost their damn minds. But seriously, it’s time to stop trying to make Hocus Pocus 2 happen, because it’s not going to happen. The Wrap reports Bette Midler, who we’re pretty sure played the role of Ms. Hocus Pocus in the movie Hocus Pocus, has stepped in to announce there won’t be any sequel, so just quit it already.

Midler’s statement came in the middle of a Facebook Q&A session, after being asked by a fan about whether or not hopes for a sequel would ever come to fruition. “After all these years and all the fan demand, I do believe I can stand and firmly say an unequivocal no,” Midler replied. And, because The Wrap has a pretty good sense of humor, it then noted that, “Ninety-six fans expressed their sadness and outrage at her answer.” You can read the entire Q&A, however, which involves plenty of other zingers from the actor and singer, like how she thinks Justin Bieber is terrific, and Justin Bieber “thinks I’m someone called Brett Meddler.” Oh, and also, give up the damn ghost on Hocus Pocus 2.
